Jio prime membership came into effect on 1 April 2017 ending the six month spell of freebies from the telecom operator. Jio started with free voice calls and data for first six months. The company shifted to paid service by announcing prime membership program for subscribers.

In addition, Jio Prime subscribers get access to the special tariff plans of the operator which provide benefits like free unlimited calls, 100 SMS Free per day, Free calls on roaming, and 20% more data.

The subsidized recharge options and additional benefits made Jio prime must buy for customers of the operator. At present, Jio customers must buy prime to be eligible for the tariff plans.

With so many benefits, the questions regarding continuation of the program make a lot of sense. Because Jio prime was the start of the ongoing tariff war in the Indian telecom sector. The loyalty program of operator is nearing its expiry date. At this time, there are lots of speculations about the future of Jio prime.

How to renew Jio prime membership after the expiry date? Do you need to pay Rs 99 again to continue the benefits of Jio Prime?

In the expected announcement, Jio may extend benefits of its prime membership for another year. The extension of membership would mean that you don’t need to pay any subscription charges to avail the special benefits offered by the operator.

The company may also revamp its prime membership but for new users only which means any subscriber joining the network will have to subscribe to Jio prime to start enjoying benefits of the program. If you recharge for the first time, you need to pay Rs 99 towards Jio prime.
