Jio Phone is No.1 Feature Phone brand in India

As per a recent media report, Jio phone has replaced Samsung to topple the list of feature phones in the country. An economic times report suggests that Jio has shipped 15 million devices October- December quarter. The record numbers make it the number one feature phone brand beating Samsung in the segment. 









The Launch of Jio 4G Feature Phone:-

The 4G VoLTE feature phone was announced by the company last year at its Annual General Meeting. However, the launch was delayed pertaining to various reasons, the booking eventually started with high demand. Jio claimed to sold over 6 million handsets in the first phase of pre-booking late August.


Most Affordable VoLTE Enabled Handset:-

Jio 4G feature was touted as the most affordable VoLTE enabled the device in the market. The device is being offered at a price of Rs 1,500 which is fully refundable to the buyer. Jio phone buyers need to make a minimum recharge of Rs 1,500 per year to get the entire amount back after three years. The rival telecom operators have also launched similar handsets but Reliance Jio’s offering remains the most affordable VoLTE enabled the device in the market.

Jio Phone Special Recharge Plans:-

Along with the announcement of Jio phone, the company also launched Rs 153 recharge plan for the device. Jiophone users could get 500 MB data per day bundled with unlimited voice calls and SMS. The plan was recently revised by Jio to provide 1GB data per day. Reliance Jio has also come with a Rs 49 tariff plan for Jiophone users. The just introduced recharge plan offers 1GB data to the subscribers for a period of 28 days.

Jio Phone Features:-

Jio phone includes many smartphone features like voice recognition, web browser, and 22 Indian languages. The 4G feature phone is equipped with alphanumeric keypad and four-way navigation keys. The handset sports 2.4-inch QVGA screen, microSD card slot, torchlight, and FM Radio. There are also dual cameras on the front and rear side. On the memory front, Jio's feature phone houses 4GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via micro SD card slot. It is powered by a removable 2000 mAh battery.

Ever since the commercial launch of Jio 4G services, there is a mushrooming of 4G handsets in the market. Even the likes of Micromax, Intex, and Lava have launched affordable 4G feature phones. The telecom companies are constantly targeting the average users who were upgrading to smartphones only because of price. The ongoing price wars between telcos has been of great respite for the mobile phone users.
