Jio Dirt Cheap Smartphone to Launch Under LYF Brand

The current race for cheapest data plans will soon have a new twist. Leading telcos are gearing up to launch smartphones at very affordable prices for the budget-oriented subscribers. It may perhaps start with Reliance Jio Dirt cheap smartphone that will be launched by the company under LYF brand. With this, Reliance Jio is planning to reach a huge base of users which are still waiting to upgrade to the smartphone experience.

MediaTek has confirmed the collaboration hinting at a possible launch very soon. Recently,  the Taiwanese chipmaker announced low-end chipsets —  MT6739, MT6737 and MT6580. The new chipsets will power the budget smartphones ensuring no compromise with the performance.





Jio’s Dirt Cheap Smartphone:- What We Expect

Jio has decided to go aggressively with Android Oreo Go edition. The company plans to bring full Android experience even on devices with low-end specifications. The release date or price of the device is not known but it may hit the market as early as the end of first quarter. We can expect disruptive pricing from the company very similar to what we have seen so far. The upcoming smartphone of the company may also come with special tariff plans.

As per reports, the new smartphone will come with a 4-inch screen and will be priced very modestly. The company may once again follow a subsidized price policy to offer the handset at dirt cheap price. Earlier, Jio disrupted the market with its feature phone at an effective price of Rs 0. However, the buyers can claim Rs 1500 back only after a period of 36 months.

Budget Smartphones:  A new segment in the market:-

Ever since the arrival of Jio, the market has seen some really affordable 4G handsets. The telecom operators like Airtel and Vodafone have come together with mobile phone manufacturers to bring affordable handsets. But the arrival of Android Go promises to bring a new lease of life to the budget smartphone segment. As per reports, all leading smartphone companies are working to bring low-end devices in the market.

The entry-level smartphone will come with Android Go OS which is designed to function even on smartphones with 1GB or lower RAM. Android Oreo Go edition was rolled out by Google in December last year. It aims to bring Android's latest OS even on budget phones with entry-level specifications. The search engine has also trimmed down versions of apps for its new operating system. Android Go is lightweight OS designed with low-end phones in mind. The customized operating system brings advanced capabilities like Face recognition.

Jio’s New Budget Smartphone: What it Promises:-

Reliance Jio already has a very successful device in the market in shape of Jio Phone which was launched by the company last year. Recently, Jio raised to the number one spot in the list of feature phone brands overtaking the South Korean manufacturer Samsung. However, Jio phone is a feature phone that comes with many smartphone like features including VoLTE, Dual cameras, live tv, and voice assistance to name a few.

While Jiophone is equipped with a range of features but it lacks support for the most popular instant messaging app Whatsapp. There was a lot of buzz that it may get support for popular social networking apps through future updates.But there has been no developments much to the disappointment of the subscribers. Reliance Jio may be finally able to bring the much sought after feature to its users on a budget with its all-new smartphone. In fact, the Jio dirt cheap smartphone is intended to come with many high-end features.
